Dr. Jennifer Strickland

Dr. Strickland has lived and worked in the Kansas City metropolitan area for most of her adult life. She attended Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, Kansas and graduated from Avila College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After several years as a full-time nurse, she decided to continue her education in a field that would allow her to combine her compassion for the human patient with her love of animals and medicine. She went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1995. Upon graduation, she immediately began working in a mixed animal practice in Stilwell, Kansas. She transitioned to exclusively treating companion animals after the birth of her two children Colin and Kathryn.

She previously worked at several small animal clinics both in the Kansas City area and Ft. Worth, Texas. In 2008 she became the sole owner of Oak Park Veterinary Clinic in Lenexa, Kansas. She remained the sole owner/operator until her merger with Two Dogs and a Cat in 2019. She has recently moved again as Two Dogs and a Cat has merged with Deer Creek Animal Hospital. She is excited to be part of a multi doctor practice again. She enjoys collaborating with and working alongside other veterinarians to provide the most up to date care possible. The best part of each day for Dr. Strickland is the time she gets to spend helping develop and build the relationship between pets and their owners. Guiding both through the entire pet life cycle from newborn to end-of-life care is her passion. She has helped many clients through multiple pet generations of that circle-of-life.

She is married to former Oak Park Veterinary Clinic office manager Dennis. When not working she enjoys taking her two dogs, Padfoot and Lucky, on long walks in the country, doing yoga, and reading. She loves  “The Beach Life” any chance she gets. She looks forward to the exciting growth and changes to come at Deer Creek.
